Our Lord promised to send His Spirit upon His Church, which He did at the feast of Pentecost in Jerusalem, and Catholics believe that the Spirit continues to guide the Church into a deeper awareness of the full truth of the Gospel. As a result, the deposit of faith left to the Church by Christ can be found in the Sacred Scriptures and in the unbroken oral teaching from the time of the Apostles, also called Apostolic tradition.
