Personal Bio

Gary Wesche has been teaching science at St. Regis for two years.  He received his education degree from Kansas State University in 1985 and taught in the Wichita, Kansas school district for a few years.  Gary then spent 19 years as an at-home dad to his six children.  During those 19 years Mr. Wesche performed in many theaters in Wichita and Kansas City. His passion, musical theater, has led him to also direct many shows for adults and children in both cities.  Mr. Wesche’s philosophy for the teaching of middle school science is very simple.  If the study of science in not motivating and exciting middle school age students will avoid studying science in high school and college where it is a choice.  This in turn will limit their career choices later in life. The topics I choose to teach are merely the vehicles I use to excite the students as I teach the science concepts which are dictated by the state of Missouri.  Ask any person who is in a career that is connected to any field of science, and I guarantee that they can tell you about a positive experience they had in middle school.  Discuss science with someone who dislikes the subject and they too can trace their feelings back to a middle school experience.  It is my goal to excite students about science, expose them to the many opportunities that exist in the numerous science fields, and to perhaps inspire a generation to greatness.  Our middle school students of today will be the adults of tomorrow that find cures, discover new stars, and improve our environment.
